FreeDocumentTranslator is a free online document translator that converts PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, LaTeX, Markdown and text files into more than 60 languages while preserving the document's structure. It runs entirely in your browser (nothing to install) and the free plan is genuinely free: sign in with Google and translate up to five documents a day.

Translating a document is easy. Translating it without wrecking the layout is the hard part. Most free tools make you copy and paste text, then hand back a wall of words with no headings, no tables and no images. Every format you actually use

Upload PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Apple Pages/Keynote/Numbers, OpenDocument, RTF, CSV, HTML, plain text, LaTeX or Markdown files and download the result in the original format or as PDF, Word or text. The free plan covers documents up to 30 MB and 20 pages, five times a day, with no credit card and no watermarks. Pro and Max raise the limits to 200 and 500 pages with unlimited file size.

60+ languages, with Indian languages done right

Translate between more than 60 languages, including every major Indian language: Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi and Urdu, plus Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and more. The source language is detected automatically, and Indic scripts are rendered with correct fonts so the output is readable on any device.

Three translation modes, one for each job

Smart Mode, the default, uses AI on Amazon Bedrock to understand your document's structure (headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, captions and inline images) and rebuilds it as a clean, readable translated document. It's ideal for ebooks, reports, study material and anything you mainly want to read.

Original Layout mode reproduces the source design instead: same fonts, sizes, positions and columns, with text automatically fitted when the translation runs longer than the original. The free plan includes 5 Original Layout documents a day (up to 10 pages); Pro and Max raise those limits. Choose it for résumés, brochures, certificates, contracts and forms, where appearance matters as much as words.

AI Summary mode turns a long document into clean, organized study notes: a short overview, sections of key points, important terms and takeaways, with the document's images included. It is ideal for textbooks, research papers, reports and lecture slides when you want the essence, not every word. The free plan includes 3 summaries a day; Pro allows 25 and Max 100. And on any mode you can switch on Simple Words to get plain, everyday language with the same meaning, perfect for students and quick reading.

Under the hood we use state-of-the-art AI language models on Amazon Bedrock for translation, with automatic fallbacks for reliability, plus Bedrock structure inference. That combination is what keeps tables as tables, lists as lists and headings as headings, in scripts as different as Latin, Devanagari and Arabic.

Fast, private and disposable by design

Documents are processed in parallel on AWS, so short files usually translate in well under a minute and long ones within a few. Files are encrypted, never used to train AI models, and never sold or shared. They're also deleted automatically (thirty minutes after translation on the free plan, five hours on paid plans), and you can delete any translation instantly with one click.
